John Helle

John Helle joined the Northwest Farm Credit Services board in 2012 and continues as a member of the AgWest Board. John is currently completing his third 5-year board term and has served three terms as Vice Chair and been a member of all board committees.
John graduated from Montana State with a degree in animal science/agricultural business. He has served his industry in many aspects, including Montana Wool Growers Association, American Sheep Industry, Southwestern Montana Stockgrowers, and National Public Land Council. While serving on many committees and councils, John has also served as a Director and President of the Montana Wool Growers Association. As a member of the Beaverhead Ski Patrol, and Beaverhead Search and Rescue, John can be found enjoying the outdoors especially on the snow.
Through Helle Livestock and other family businesses, John's operations produce sheep and wool, cattle, hay and small grains. Under the brand Duckworth the Helle family sells wool apparel with the motto from “Sheep to Shelf”.
John’s ranching tradition is bound to continue with the involvement of his sons in the operation. Surrounded by his wife Karen, their daughter, three sons, two daughters-in-law and three grandsons, they can be found enjoying the ranching lifestyle. John and Karen like to travel and enjoy exploring new country, especially if a motorcycle is involved.
