At AgWest, the continued success and vibrance of the organization relies on direct feedback from customers to leadership.
AgWest’s Local Advisors are a group of customers from various regions across AgWest’s territory who provide valuable insight, advice, diverse perspectives, and a direct communications link between customers to the Board of Directors and Operating Committee. Each member of the Local Advisory Committee provides broader representation than the board itself can with its limited numbers.
Throughout the year, select board members and the CEO meet with the Local Advisors from each region. Updates are provided on the association’s operating results, and feedback is solicited regarding how the association is performing in the advisor’s region, what we can do better, and if proposed new programs seem relevant.
"It shows that they care. AgWest is not just there; they want to understand the boots on the dirt. They want to know what’s really going on out there, not just loan you money."
— Matt Palmer
VIP Farms, Thatcher, Arizona
"Through the LAC program I have enjoyed being able to help support AgWest’s vision of giving back to rural communities. I’ve been able to provide input on some of the needs of our local community and be able to be part of the decision-making about how to direct stewardship funds."
— Brian Baumann (and wife Megan)
Baumann Century Farm, Washtucna, Washington
"Agriculture is a dynamic industry that changes quickly. To serve us well, AgWest focuses on both educating their members and being equally educated by their members."
— Nicole Van Vleck
Montna Farms, Yuba City, California
"We are the voice of AgWest customers and we can relay that information on to the board. So they've got more people out listening to what customers’ needs are, and what we need to do as an association."
— Tom Fessler
Woodburn Nursery and Azaleas, Inc. Woodburn, Oregon
"The professionals that work at AgWest know what’s going on in your area, because of the Local Advisory Committees. Even if you’re not specifically involved in your LAC, a neighbor might be. And they are going to be able to pass along pertinent information on your growing and marketing conditions. That’s a communication that is happening non-stop at AgWest."
— Stefanie Smallhouse
Redington Livestock LLP, Benson, Arizona
"In the LAC program I’ve been able to meet many AgWest employees and other producers like me. It has allowed us to share with others and learn about their operations. This AgWest program has helped us do what we do even better – which is raising kids and crops."
— Jared Zito (and wife Mikki)
Zito Farms, Hammett, Idaho
